I have started to load my old astrarium episodes on itunes,  just search for astrarium, currently only 2 episodes are online, but more are to follow !

Also here is a picture I took in Toronto last weekend.

Well I have not updated this blog in some time,   I think it is time to do so, a lot has happened since my last blog post:

- I have moved from hosting Astrarium on CFRC, to being a host of Indie Wakeup Call on Fridays, live at the Common Ground.
- I am no longer the observatory co-ordinator.
- Moved house.
- Have done some scat singing in public (evidence here)
- Become more interested in photography and live music.
- Started the final year of my PhD.

I plan to start updating the blog soon ! In the meantime check out my flickr site for new photos.

Here is the trailer I created for the International Year of Astronomy in Kingston.

The true stars of my weekend at the Mont-Megantic Observatory, were not the ones in the sky, but the excellent people at OMM. My friend Vero, was kind enough to take me and Eve to the astro-festival at OMM. The views in the telescope and of the milky way were breathtaking. Hear me discussing my weekend at OMM on CFRC with Owen F (o1sound) Me on o1sound (CFRC)

I have been looking through my old dvds of pictures I took years back with my Canon 300D (digital rebel) and have started to upload the good ones to flickr. I have recently added:

Some old astrophotography pictures

Shots taken at the University of Hertfordshire Observatory

and some animal pictures

I recently got back from the CASCA conference in Victoria BC, after the conference I went camping with Evelyne and V in Strathcona park, you can see the photos I took on my flickr page.

Yesterday was astronomy day, so I went a long to Murney Park to help the local RASC members who had set up a public viewing of the sun in various telescopes.   It was a nice day for it,  in the evening we had a very successful open house.

As part of my training at CFRC (Queen’s University Radio) I had to shadow a show, I decided on a show that a friend was starting called 01sound. 01sound includes an interesting mix of music and stories (with suitable sound effects), during the show I was interviewed live about astronomy and the Queen’s Observatory. In addition I was asked to introduce the next show. It was great fun !, even thought I was a little nervous, I totally enjoyed it. This was my first ever live broadcast.

When I got back to the Queen’s astro department I was very pleasantly surprised to find that the whole astro grad corridor had been listening to my live broadcast :) Thanks guys !

You can hear documented evidence here (after about 15 minutes

I am currently slowly putting together a demo for a possible monthly Astronomy/Science show. I am extremely grateful to the Queen’s Astro faculty who have been very supportive thus far, not only in being willing to give interviews, but also who have given me very positive feedback about the show idea.

Here is my first attempt to do astrophotography with my new Nikon D40 using a 8 Inch SCT.  This is an image of M13 which is a globular cluster.

I recently found a great recipe for pear and stilton tart which uses a walnut pastry on Helen Graves’ food blog. Helen’s blog is full of excellent recipes with really good photos of the food also.

The recipe and the blog can be found here
